In a Perfect World

In a perfect world furnaces wouldn't be temperamental, we wouldn't have to pay a utility bill and basements wouldn't be freezing. And cookie dough would be in an abundance.

We can't have everything we want, but we can have cookie dough.

Quirks

Spunk,
Sassy Pants,
Random Sense of Humor,
The ADD
Weirdness
well,
A rose by any other name...

Whatever you call it,
please enjoy these personality quirks
because if my amazing grandmother is any indication of how I'll turn out--
well then,
these traits are here to stay--
and to be cherished.
You can have some quirks too if you want.

Something to Think About

Since I am such an expert here. What are your thoughts?

The bottom line is that (a) people are never perfect, but love can be, (b) that is the one and only way that the mediocre and the vile can be transformed, and (c) doing that makes it that. Loving makes love. Loving makes itself. We waste time looking for the perfect lover instead of creating the perfect love. Wouldn't that be the way to make love stay?

Honesty

Honesty is an interesting thing. Sometimes, I'm going to want you to tell me how you really feel and to burst out with honesty. Other times, I'm going to need you to leave honest in the dust and tell me how not fat I look in a dress, especially those days when I'm 8 1/2 months pregnant. Basically you can be honest on everything else, but I'm going to need you to just stretch the truth juuuuuust a tad. :)

I Promise

To do everything within my power to make sure you won't ever have to buy pads or tampons for me.

The Zone

No Judge Zones go for the both of us, (feel free to add to this list). They include but are not limited to:
  • anywhere within a 3 foot radius of a tub of ice cream
  • anytime close to bed time, post swimming, or in the midst of a road trip

Being a Sports Fan

I can't pretend that a childhood spent with mostly brothers had taught be everything I need to know about watching and playing sports but I do know some details.

What I can promise you is that if you agree to explain the random details of the game or obscure calls by the ref to me, then I will often happily watch 'various sporting endeavors' with you.

A Hairy Situation

Your opinion on how I have my hair will of course be a top concern when I decide to do something different with it, but please don't tell me what or how to style my hair. It really is the ideas that sound the craziest that need to been seen through to the end before it's clear just how awesome the idea can be, like shaving my head.
  • If you like my hair long, I'll keep it long, but please understand that sometimes I'll need it short too.
  • When I start going gray [I mean really gray, not a strand here and there] I want to see how I'll look with the salt'n'pepper look, so don't ask that I dye my hair to try and match the original color--it won't look way it used to be anyway. Plus dye smells bad.

Decorate

I don't know if you'd ever be able to talk me into doing a Halloween costume like this with you, but I wouldn't mind if we had this quirkyness in our home somewhere.

In fact it would be kinda cute.

Oh Don't Mind the Cough

Odds are that if I like you then you've got some awesome qualities about you. It's those awesome qualities that caught my eye. It's also a lot of those same qualities that might make you a little intimidating to talk to at first. Not like a scary board-room intimidation or a giant/midget intimidation but a "Oh-my-gosh-I'm-so-nervous-and-not-used-to-being-nervous-what's-happening?!" nervous feeling. You know?

So don't mind if, while I'm struggling trying to keep the crazy on the inside and the cuteness on the outside, my throat does that weird nervous closing up thing that feels just how I imagine going into anaphylactic shock would be like and I cough, choke on my spit or stutter. Occasionally too my voice does this mute thing where no matter how hard I try everything comes out in whisper. Ok, it does that anyway but it's harder to control during the psuedo-anaphylactic shock moments.

Weird, I know. . . At least I'm not nervous puking?
One day we'll look back and laugh.
